Jeanne Huntley (aka Bernina Lady)
became passionate about quilting in 1976.
Crafting of one sort or another has always
been a great part of her day-to-day life.
Knitting, crocheting, macramé, garment
construction, cross-stitching and
handcrafted teddy bears have been part of
her love of sewing as well.

In 1978, in Scarborough Ontario at The
Quilting Patch, Jeanne met her mentor and
quilting teacher Bette Procunier. Bette was
an extraordinary teacher of quilting and
took Jeanne under her wings. Bette
became more than a teacher; she was a
friend, a mentor and at times “an udder
mudder.”
Bette passed away several years ago but Jeanne tries to instill some of the values
that Bette taught her each and every day into her love of quilting and teaching.

Bette was a passionate Bernina owner and always said her students should have
one. When Bette said you must have, Jeanne listened. A Bernina 801 was Jeanne’
s prized possession in 1978. The 801 is still alive and well, and sounds as good as
the day Jeanne bought it. As most Bernina owners, Jeanne then became a collector
of Bernina machines owning an 830 and 1630. She became the proudest owner of
a Bernina Artista 200E in 2002 when Jeanne and Jan Holleman at That Cotton
Pickin’ Quilt Shop undertook the Bernina Dealership for Atlantic Canada.

Jeanne will not currently own up to how many Berninas she actually owns
personally anymore.

Jeanne has taught quilting for many years. You may have met up with her at The
Quilting Patch in Toronto (ON), The Browser’s Nook in Berwick (NS), The Calico
Basket in Bridgewater (NS), That Cotton Pickin’ Quilt Shop in Coldbrook (NS) or
even Piece Makers Quilt Shop in Newfoundland.

When That Cotton Pickin’ Quilt Shop closed the end of June 2007, Jeanne decided
to go out on her own as The Bernina Lady. It is going to be quite an adventure. She
has the full support of everyone at Bernina Canada as well as this is the first
dealership of this type.

Jeanne lives in Harbourville, Nova Scotia with her husband of 33 years, Will. Sales
were never considered as a career option for this retired medical secretary. But
Jeanne loves to talk about her Berninas and will do so to anyone who will listen.

Jeanne is proud to be your dealer, and represent Bernina in Atlantic Canada.
